Deutsch Connectors are a weatherproof, keyed connector that is available to fit varying numbers of wires. There are some knock-offs of them as well, and there are two pin variants.
Contact& Housing Variants
There are 2 different contact variants – “Open Contact” and “Closed Contact”. The Open Contact are is stamped connector like you would see with a Molex, JST, etc. and are much cheaper. The Closed Contact is a molded barrel that uses a specific crimper, similar to an XT30/60/90. Personally, I prefer the Closed Contact style because there’s less chance for error, but the contacts do cost a bit more.
There are 3 different pin sizes: 20, 16, and 12. These sizes DO NOT correlate to the wire size – it is the physical size of the plug.
They correlate to the 3 different housing sizes: DTM (Deutsch Mini) use the Size 20 pins, DT (Deutsch) use the Size 16 pins, and DTP (Deutsch Power) use the Size 12 pins. Typically DTM is used for signaling or low-current wires, DT is used for moderate power conductors or large-size/low-loss signals, and DTP is used for powering high-current devices.
